How do I do in SharkCAD V12 PP what is done starting at 4m 51s? The "Spin" tool.

"Watch "5 Blender Tools I Wish I Knew when I Started..." on YouTube"

https://youtu.be/jHgT7VU5mD4

For years, I either started with a crve and surface, or a curve and pipe.

Also, starting witha primitive or a sample surface based on a circle, how do I extrude a surface up, then freeform introduce bends that do smooth radiuses so I don't have to in advance plane a route so that I get a pipe that is not wacky?

Here is more on the Spin tool:

"Watch "Blender 2.8 - Spin Tool - Tutorial" on YouTube"

https://youtu.be/OcESDOixsj0

That's from 3 years ago. I'm today struggling to replicate that in SharkCAD v12 PP. I want to so it with surfaces and solids. I'm not crazy about meshes yet.

Does anyone know of any ViaCAD or SharkCAD tutorials for doing that?

Thanks.

....

Something I finally today after 10 years figured out and like is the deep-select rotate. Tho, it doesn't like working on many of the chamfers and bevels and blended edges I put on primitive blocks and cylinders.

Try the Extend Bend tool. This is using ACIS bend API procedures (no mesh, precise solids).

Thanks, Tim.

I'll try again.

A week or two ago, on a lark/distraction, I bent things and was impressed. IIRC, I only bent flat plate, not a pile.

Yesterday, when intentionally trying to bend a solid, a mesh, and a surface, whether with the Gripper or the Bend tool, I got compressed/distorted results by Gripper and got error messages by the Bend tool.

I checked the filter and snap settings, did get contact, but noted that with and without a guide curve, whether a regular line of 2 or 3 points, or a spline of 4 points (2 coincident at a vertex, to make a 90-degree bend), I repeatedly met with failure.

I'll try again.

But, It would be nice to have a Gripper visual reference. I will try with neat interpolated splines in various shapes against various objects.

Wow!

That's crazy-simple. That's EXACTLY what I'm after. I'm embarrassed. I should have been more resourceful, and I should have figured that out.

Yesterday, I tried a different way, to mimic the Blender vid by using the Gripper and a placeholder circle, and by setting the origin to the circle, and by rotating about the center. That only resulted in a drag across like a chord move.

Again, THANKS!

Awesome. As a precision tool, I think it's hopefully much better than Blender. I use blender quite a bit for rendering and Lux testing but everything is facets/triangles.

And it's a pretty interesting tool for duct and pipe design. IE precision, associative, and feature tree supporting tool.
