Hi Antoine

Can you post the geometry/file you tried to use?

Jason,

Antoine has already reported this bug and posted an example. See this post from 4 months ago.

Hi Antoine

The 2 rail sweep seems better if you move the profile slightly inside (.006") the sweep profiles. See attached file. (I moved the sweep profile in toward the center of the ellipse rails.

Instead of the profile just touching the edge of the sweep rails. If I move them less than .006 it gives and Acis error and creates the bad sweep you first had.

Regards

Jason

Likewise JD ! .. though I'm quite sure it's intended to be helpful for Tim to understand what is going awry

Jol

It seems if the swept profile has 2 vertices lying on the rails to be swept and the profile is outside the sweep rails its has an acis error and then does not draw the sweep as shown by Antoine's file.

Hi Jason,

You can work around this by splitting the rail curves, that is IF, the resulting curves are not changed to other curve types , or half the curve is not deleted and if then those curves remain with original tangent endpoints. There can be far too many "Ifs" and "Buts" with VC/shark.
This problem and others related have been reported numerous times, and Tim appears to just avoid the subject/issues.

Well,

It looks like this will be ignored yet again. Maybe these bugs (and others) are beyond the capabilities of the programmers to fix? or that they just cannot be bothered? or not enough users make reports? or ?

For a program like Shark, with problems like this, well, very bad.

I imagine it's more a matter of prioritising resources !?

That said, a critical part of the work is done .. calling out these short-falls in functionality. Well done to everybody for this very important work !

So, now the flag has clearly been raised on this tool - I hope the time is found to address it's failings

I can understand that resources are limited, but if Shark6 is released with these basic tools not functioning correctly, then I for one would certainly not even contemplate upgrading, ever.
