I came from a cad system where I could use the workplane to cut a split a solid. I see that's not an option in VCPro14.

So what I am doing is positioning the workplane where I want to split the solid, see pic. Then I am drawing 2 lines, 1 on X and 1 on Y. (Lines in green). Then I am adding an infinite plane by 3 points (plane in red). I use the infinite plane to split the solid!!!

Is there any way I can speed that up, with fewer mouse picks, fewer lines (or no lines). Your ideas please!!!

Mike...

P.S. The best solution would be for Tim Olson to add Split by Workplane as an option... ;-)

Splitting a solid is very easy in Shark.
Simply set an infinite plane where you want it in x y or z on your solid and then use the split solid tool.

It's very easy to split solids with surfaces. You can easily extrude a line or curve with the extrude surface tool. Then use the split solid tool using the surface you created. You can also trim a solid with a simple line or curve perpendicular to your view with the trim solid tool, but it trims off one end of solid and does not keep the other end of the solid.

I use both of these tools so much that I put them on a custom tool pallete so I don't have to hunt these tools down.

Damn, that's a much easier way, I really need to read up on the Tool functions. :)
Thanks for the that
