Hi,

I again have some pesky, nettles to again ask for now mid-2025. The issues I'm having make me feel I'm self-invited in a rubber room with permission to leave but no permission to play my way if I stay.

1. When will it become possible to bidirectionally update the SharkCAD layers via manipulation of the BOM, and to export the BOM as a CSV or non-proprietary universally-readable file so users can edit the BOM in a spreadsheet, where core layer attributes could be coded (by you) in a locked column so that, when the BOM is reimported into SharkCAD after other non-locked layers have been reorganized, nested, de-nested, sorted, etc, the user can have a newly cleaned up and reorganied file?

2. When (if the above is not done) will it become possible to drag and drop any layer to anywhere within any other branch/layer/tree, and not merely "clone" or "duplicate" layers' names (the action of which doesn't facilitate moving the geometry WITH or WITHIN the layer the user is trying to move)?

It should be possible for users to via LAN or a licensing key drag and drop layers from machine to maxhine (or, lerhaps, by way of a recycled phone for only this purpose, not surfing, home banking, IOT management, watching YouTube, etc, recycled-phone-device-managed machine-machine file management), directly, not just via import/export. It should be possible to have a columnar check box so the user can nominate for transfer a tall-layer slew of files (without errant mouse release deselecting minutes-worth of selections) to and between layers. It would be nice if aspects of Duplicate as Instance and Duplicate with History could be lart of a cloning operation so that "what-if" copies can be tested quickly. Such could allow lasso-in some solid and then all its relevant geometry could be packaged for either export or for use in a separate file or cloned and kept in the current file, but under a "testing" branch.

As an extension of the preceding question/s, a burning, stressful need seriously needs facilitation, without any AI, just normal human hands-on effort/activity:

3. Since some users have or want to make multiple purchases of SharkCAD (network or side-by-side CAD work) will you consider making a (for-free OR <$500 for-fee (oeice high enough for you to make money or re-validate licensing, bult not high enough to drive users to competition having more flexible layering options)) license key option (some say "dongle", but, I'm old, and "dongle" as a term got lazily hijacked to a new meaning) that will allow the owner of a machine with valid SharkCAD (or ViaCAD) activation/s to be able to tether to a keyed ("dongle-tethered" LAN or straight-through hub or direct wire) license?

That is, will you — for file maintenance/expansion/consolidation and live-session transfer — please make a key that allows two running instances (where the user is not necessarily simultaneously/concurrently running the one-instance-allowed home instance and work instance license purchase, but wilfully purchased distinct, separate licenses of the SharkCAD or Shark FX or ViaCAD apps, to avoid the licensing limitations)?

My situation:

I've carelessly for years designed many of my ships without consideration of the WBS/SWBS.

I now over the years have geometry in numerous files and numerous inconsistently-named layers, need to consolidate layers, and need to reorganize many thousands of layers. It is exceedingly difficult to within SharkCAD find, sort, segregate, harmonize, and re-label my layers. I also need a way to sub-name layers that have geometry that my have a primary SWBS number but could have a secondary use under a 2nd or 3rd SWBS.

Thanks for reading this!

Searching (via "Show by name", part of the Powerpack) is possible within item names. Therefore, it is useful to assign names not only to layers but also to entities. I always use the same name for the solid (entity) as for the layer, and I use one layer per solid.
