I seem not to find an answer or whether what I am intending to do possible.

When I export a rendered jpg of a solid, my background shows being white corresponding to my default background. Is there a way to avoid the background and just export the solid without any colored background? I believe I want transparency or no background rendering. Is this possible?

Well no - at least I think not

... What I think you're looking for is to 'render with Alpha channel'

This is possible using our render engine (www.lightwork.com)

However, the guy have not yet implemented it - I wish they would !

I don't know if it requires a lot of work - or just needs a toggle switch to flag it as 'on'

Either way - it'd be a great feature to be able to use Ryan / Tim !!

Try using the image background "in preference colors dialog" before exporting as JPG.

I tried it and no luck, I still get white background. I presumed you don't select a file but leave blank for choose file in preference-colors-background-file option.

This feature might not be working properly in mac. I'll try on pc to see if this works there. Thanks.
