Thanks: 1 times
Hi everybody, For the perspective view with larger models, jack up the focal length in view properties. I was working on a 28' X 20' building and getting very bad perspective results, the focal length did the trick when I set it to 1200. After the FL is reset in a couple of views it handles the models much better in perspective. Most likely, the bigger the object, the higher the setting. I use this process for setting up a view for print. All my modeling/editing is done using standard views, Front, Side, Iso, etc. 1) Set up the angle you want to view your model from. 2) Hit the Perspective view button. 3) Go to View Properties to adjust the Focal Length. Maybe a higher default setting in Preferences for Architectural could be an option also. Darren ViaCAD 2D/3D

Interesting Darren. Thanks for the tip. 1200 eh? I imagine when most people think of focal length, they think of 35mm camera focal length? A FL of 1200 would be a super-telephoto. No wonder people can never work the settings out! Tim, do you think this could be tweaked so when the model changes in overall size, the ratio to FL could also be re-calibrated within the software (if this works?) Tom

Unfortunately that is only good for viewing (and actually goes mad at times when rotating/zooming). Try editing the model while in a focal length changed view, it causes miss-selection.
This is an area that as been put forward many many times for improvement, sadly, without success.

We must stop to advertise with: [COLOR="Lime"]SharkFX = architecture

If you do not change the settings ergonomics perspective, and the opportunity to see inside a shell model ...
or through a "wall"
I sincerely hope a change for the future.

I have to agree - perspective is broke and needs urgent attention I can only hope by now that it is right at the top of the dev list

I have always noted that the silence is deafening regarding this issue. I can't remember it ever even being acknowledged as an issue.

All I can think of is that the view is "Isometric Perspective", which of course is great for 2d drawings, but no good for showing 3d depth.
It would not be so bad if we could actually change to "True Perspective" and actually be able to work in that mode. But that is certainly not possible.
Tim must still be living in the land of 2d. :D
