Could some one please tell the criteria that changes a part with a history into a ACIS Solid in ViaCAD? Is there any way of accessing the history of such a solid?

Modifying the parent will modify any childern. For example: --make some boundary curves --make surfaces from the curves that form a water tight shape --stitch surfaces into solid --add some blends, shelling operations, holes Now go back and move one of the curves (while still perserving a water tight shape). The operations you did will regenerate. Also, if you modify a parameter of any shape that was used to create the final shape, you can modify the parameter and the rest will rebuild. I've been working on some loco wheels (see attachment) and what I had hoped to do was to draw one spoke and polar duplicate it, then modify the six spokes around the crank pin boss in situ. But I can't do this because all the polar dulicates are ACIS solids which can't be modified. Instead I found I had to draw a plain spoke and duplicate it, then duplicate the parent curves for the crank pin boss spoke and then draw one of each type in situ.
Since I may have to draw a lot of different wheels I'm looking for the most efficient way for drawing them.
Incidently The ViaCAD drawing is coming out at just under 200Mb. Is this the sort of figure that would be expected?

Hello Bill,
I'm new to viacad, so I'm not sure I have a solution to what you want to do, but I tried something similar, and I would be interested to have your opinion.
I created a cylinder, polar arrayed it 20 times, created a rectangle and extruded it, then added all the bits into one solid. After this, I was able to add individual fillets around the intersection of each spoke with the block. It failed only where the space between spokes created too much complexity for a solution, but I only used random sizes, so....
Is this similar to your model? I have attached a .jpg picture file; if it would help, I can send you a .vc3 file, but it is 1.2MB!
