it would be great to be able to model something without the GUI.
Macosx is UNIX.. which makes things great when combining several programs together... imagine something like:

you have an optimization program which runs in the terminal,
a FEM solver which runs in the terminal
and... (missing)
the possibility to access the CAD potential by scripting!!!!!!

this would be 5 in's setting up.
Please make kernel open to scripting and accessible from terminal
:-)
g.

PS this is possible with Blender for instance... but CU is far too cool to miss it!

I would also love to have scripting added to the CU/viaCad/Shark family.
I would love to be able to set up scripts to draw out common parts that I do almost every day here. These parts are easily defined and not very complex. Having a dialog box that allows me to input the dimensions quickly would be wonderful. I have been working on this with some open souce projects and have had encouraging results.

Thanks,
Dan

P.S. Python is my scripting language of choice.

Tell me more about using symbols in CU/Viacad.

Let's say that I have an adapter bushing that has these features that change from part to part:

the shank can vary in diameter
the shank can vary in length
there is a head on the bushing that can vary in diameter
the head on the bushing can vary in length
there might be 1, 2, or 4 tapped holes through the head (they lock onto the drill or boring bar that is placed in the bushing)
the tapped holes could be anything between a 6-32 to 1/4-28 thread
there may or may not be a coolant hole in the end of the shank

Could these variables be captured with symbols?

Thanks,
Dan
