Hi

Has anybody got a simple trick to generate a mechanical gear ?
I mean a real involute spline.

Google told me there is a gear generator in SW, in Sketchup and others.

Can I have nice Shark teeth ?

Thanks,

JL

There's a gear generator I came across for $29 dollars but I believe is for PC only. Nice one to use as it has a lot of variables to play with.

I usually just go to a web site that sells gears and download their .sat or .step file for it and not worry about drawing that thing from scratch. You can just use the cad software to resize it. Be sure you have the same pitch on both gears.

Have a look here: http://www.gearotic.com/
I think it can produce a dxf file from any gear that you design within it.

.spl lawspline script import should be able to produce the flank involute parametrically.

Thanks Rockyroad,
Yes PC only...
I need to draw from scratch : it's special shape and plastic injection...

Thanks Zumer,
I forgot about that !
It was included in Concept Unlimited tutorial, with a demo from Tim.
I'll try...
