How to stretch - newbie question. (#3974)

I am now using ViaCAD Pro 7 for five days and is designing everything from new, even if there are repetition partz, but of different sizes. I am referring to something that were made in more than one step, like a bolt. I can scale a bolt from say 8mm dia shaft to 6 or 4. Everything scale smaller in the correct aspect ratio, but I don't know how to stretch the model say in the centre. The bolt head must remain in place but the chamfered tip needs to be stretched longer. I know how to cut it shorter. Can someone please indicate me in the right direction?

You don't need a stretch tool guy, just window select the solid and pull it along. Chuck

Layman terms please, remember I am still an Idiot. I have selected the tip's face and chamfer edge but it either unselected itself or move the whole screw. I have successful stretched the front round face of the tip but then it is thinner and I did not manage to move the chamfer or the extrude that as well. Back to square one. How to stretch a screw without resizing the head or making the shaft thicker/thinner?

Jors.
Use the stretch tool :):D
And follow the direction in the upper left part of the screen - you should be good to go.

It is still not how to stretch, But I have selected the chamfer edge with the white arrow selection tool and pressed delete. It worked to remove the chamfer edge. I then selected the round face of the tip and extruded it. It made it longer and the new additional part I could select in the property box how long I want it. I chamfered it again and used the add solid feature to made the two parts one. This is what I like about ViaCAD. You can get there for the mean time with a twenty mile detour, until someone show you how to get there with a two feet shortcut.

Solved I managed it with the stretch feature (Left of the twist) Sometimes it stretch erroneously at an angle but works most of the time). I still would like to know if there are other methods.

It may help to draw a construction line (or two), the length(s) of which represent the three points the Stretch tool will be asking for as well as the vector. Also try wireframe display mode or transparency to help visualise snap points, but there are plenty of other ways too, it just depends what you need to do.
Upload a file if you're in difficulty and someone will step in to help.
See the video for some clarification.

HI Johan
You could try the following
make a copy of the bolt
1 use remove face to remove chamfer
2 offset face, tab into box and enter the precise value after clicking face
3 rechamfer end

I think we need a little demonstration on palette editing on solid surfaces ....
a tool that can edit the faces of a volume with a move action in x, y, z.
The other moves the sides with a value of + or -
for the screw, I propose the first solution.
It is not necessary to destroy the chamfer, before ...
