Bluntly, can we expect some SRs or update versions of our $99 version of ViaCAD?

If so, are there any timings programmed?

Please!-------Happy New Year.

Yes, we've got a service pack in works. It will be based off the current shark beta testing, so it will be a build > 734.

Thanks Tim. I think, with a few fixes, it would prove an ideal app for those "in-between" modelers who don't need Rhino, or Amapi (what a loss!), etc.

Have you studied MoI? It is wow good ,within it's programmed limits, but may be a bit pricey for most of us.

That leads me to ask; what do we have to do when the upgrade (build 734) becomes available? Will we be notified, and if so, how? The original poster asked for a timeframe - is it possible to forecast at least a non-binding estimate of this, please?

Click on the Help:Current Version menu item. This will tell you whether you have the most current version, plus provide access to the patch installer.

The most current ViaCAD 2D/3D release is 713, so bumping up to 734+ will include a bunch of bug fixes.

Thanks Tim,
When I asked for the current version, it told me build 711, and that it is the latest. I was not able to see any access to the patch installer. Where should I look for this?

Checking with the web guys, the latest build should be 713, soon to be updated to 735 or 736.

Hi Stefan,
I tried to post the exact same picture you posted, but was told it was too big. (810 x 650 or thereabouts, and the max size allowed for .png is 620 x 620) How did you get your pic to fit here?

FYI, a ViaCAD 2D/3D beta is available through shark beta page.

Tim, is that Shark beta an indication of what is in the (free?) update of ViaCAD?

No, I used the shark page & emailer as a means to deploy the beta quickly to ViaCAD users.

Shark FX has a bunch of additional functionality over ViaCAD 2D/3D. The ViACAD 2D/3D update is a free service patch which focuses on providing a bunch of bug fixes since the 711 release.

No?
The shark beta is NOT an indiction of what is to be in the ViaCAD free update?

Shark and ViaCAD are derived from the same code where common bugs are fixed and shared between the products. Numerous common bugs were fixed between 711 and 735. However, Shark has quite a bit more exclusive functionality (licensed royalty bearing technologies) than ViaCAD such as photorendering, constraints, advanced surface modeling tools, CATIA V5 drawing generation, and PROE & CATIA translators. Shark FX is a $1795 product where as ViaCAD 2D/3D is a $99 product.

It makes the idea of downloading the big Beta rather silly for the ViaCAD community then?

Oops, sorry for not being more clear. The Shark autorepsonder also provides a link to the ViaCAD 2D/3D beta installer. We took out the videos and symbol library for the ViaCAD installer to make it a smaller download. It also installs ViaCAD 2D/3D into a "ViaCAD 2D/3D Beta" directory so that it does not mess up your comerical install of ViaCAD.
