- Navigating quickly to where you really need to be in the feature tree to affect a change PRONTO ! Nigh on impossible - Setting up close-shot perspective reliably. Nigh on impossible ! - A button for perspective that knows whether it's on or off ! - Doing a bunch of renderings based on a list of views you set - whilst you're asleep. Can't do it ! - (Differential) Scale a spline into a new situation by clicking 3 points .. ditto - Doing symmetrical stuff, splines for starters - heavens, most everything in CAD in symmetrical .. and computers are really really good at symmetry - Extending curves past boundaries without changing the character of that curve - Better in-out for SolidWorks - Setting grid for any kind of vehicular project .. where you typically work mostly to one side of the origin - Keeping (somewhat) up with the Joneses in terms of rendering - In OpenGL - 2 layers of transparency where you don't see a squillion little triangles - Not having objects f$%king shoot off the page when I start a new session and the view-rotate-point was 10 feet off to the left for the last drawing I did - Beautiful cleeeeeaaaaaaan anti-aliased splines : ) Mmm ! - Not a biggy .. but once you use them in other programs - you really miss them .... Little clicky-uppy-downy arrows next to each data entry box - Master/Slave Surface Match (that works) for effective surface patching - A Silhouette tool without behavioral issues - An XYZ Triad that isn't always UNDER a dialog box - Rationalised Dialog boxes .. they're everywhere once you get going - they need an adobe/get info style stacking system ! Be great to see other people's wishes - try to keep them specific & realistic

Beyond Jol's list I would add a few items. - Drag and drop layer management that will allow me to move a layout out of a child / sub-layer to become a parent layer. - Drag and drop feature reordering. The current system of pointing right clicking and crossing fingers is broken. Always has been and is in need of some attention. - Split dialog boxes / palettes so that I can see BOTH layers and history simultaneously as well as object data and all its attributes. - Ability to change multiple features - chamfers, radius, draft etc., simultaneously.

Yep good one .. I particularly like this : - Ability to change multiple features simultaneously

--Ability to select items for a group or feature in a dialog box rather than with shift, and if the feature is refused, you don't have to start all over. --Layer visibility can be named and saved. --Model to print should only turn off top-level layers.

Oh yep .. nearly forgot this one : Ghost dependencies making my model slow and heavy !!! Delete a (surface) stitched solid and it still exists in the history tree as an "invisible" It weighs down your model, increases filesize and dependencies with every new iteration .. and it's an ASS of a bug

I really hate to bring this up again, but over 4 years ago I first requested a way to highlight snap colors and text. The Mac users have this, but not Windows. I have asked again several times since, with no reply.
Another thing is , can someone show me a reason to rotate a Model-To-Sheet screen ? I understand that the 3DConnexion devices can be disabled in Ortho views, but not the Viewball or Mouse. Do we really need any views other than Top? Please give me an example.

Yes it all the above and I'd like to add: Position of a an selected object. This one really bugs me since in VC3D there is no easy way to get the object's position. A "super" info pallet with position, size, etc. much along the lines that adobe does in many of it's apps. My two cents worth. Toby

How about a drop-down quick layer tool that is separate from the screen hog when using concepts explorer?

When it comes to model to sheet, do hidden lines work properly in higher products other than ViaCAD? Hidden lines are totally unreliable in ViaCAD. It appears if I choose "ignore", then it trims edges properly so that only the visible portion is included, but if I include them, it won't remove or trim hidden lines where non-hidden lines are on top of them, and each edge gets a decision made as to whether the entire edge is hidden or not, rather than have it split into two or more lines, if necessary; one a hidden line with a different pen, and one the pen for visible. Edit: For just a few incorrect hidden lines, it is easier to flatten the view and fix it. For a lot of hidden lines that are incorrect, I found it works to create the view twice with the same scale. The first time, I use the same pen for both hidden and visible lines; the second time, I tell it to ignore hidden lines. When I flatten both views, group them, and superimpose them on top of each other, I can get around this bug.

Not sure about ViaCad, but Shark has a contextual menu item for changing the layer of an object. Unfortunatly it is pretty useless if you have more than a few layers, as it always starts at the top of the layer list so an item that is several hundred layers down from the top means a VERY long scroll.
As for the concept explorer eating up screen real estate. It does, but if you are serious about CAD it makes sense to get a second monitor to move all those palettes onto.

Contextual layer menu has no indication of where you are in the layer list.

This will be my first attempt at posting a picture. This is a simple block 1x1x1 with a 1.5x1.5x0.25 block attached to it and centered. The isometric view shows the problem best.
Notice the solid line top-centered as it moves down and left; it should change, but it doesn't. Also notice that there are two lines that start out as hidden and don't change when they are no longer hidden.
Also amusing, is if I have a top or other standard view such that 20 hidden lines are all eclipsed by a non-hidden line, all 20 will show in the ambiguity selector. I think hidden lines should be clipped (or removed if totally eclipsed) if another hidden line is already there, and especially if a non-hidden line is present.

I would also like the ability to shut down all history trees and keep everything an ACIS solid. I don't know if it is bugs, or not, but often, I am making a solid, move something, or do a boolean operation, my part turns into a pile of rubble because some link has been modified, and what's worse, UNDO takes an egg beater and makes the rubble pile worse.

Hi - you can do that by going edit>remove links
However, a purge file function would be great for removing the history, undos, saved facets and so on
With regard your M2S example Richard, I get a different result from you .. take a look. Perhaps the technology is different for Shark after all !? Seems to me there is just one simple error where a green and black line co-exist .. the green apparently on top of the black (confirmed by the ambiguity pop-up)
- or am I doing something different from you ?
