Is there a way to lock a line endpoint to the origin of the model (in the constraints palette)? I still want to be able to adjust the length of the line though using smart dimensions!

Connect its start point coincident to a locked line at origin?

Yes, I could insert a 1mm line at the origin, and lock it in place. The problem is that when I constrain all the lines of the sketch, when I go to extrude it, it won't let me extrude the sketch. It throws a Gaps detected in profile error. I actually have to pick the individual lines, and not pick that 1mm line...

Here I have about a 45mm line hanging off the bottom of the sketch instead of 1mm...

Right click the sketch in the concept explorer, go to show axis. Make sure the axis is where you want said corner and coincidence the point to the axis system

I've started experimenting with the location of the sketch axis, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason where the sketch axis is placed. In my mind, it should be at the beginning point of the first line I sketch. But no, it ends up at the endpoint of the second line sometimes, and the endpoint of the third line sometimes. (Just drawing simple triangles over here! Ha!)

Is there any way to force the location of the sketch axis, or am I stuck moving it around manually?

I see @ALBOY9611 uses circles to constrain his sketches!

What I used to do was start a sketch apply to a face or whatever. Don't actually draw much just enough to get a sketch started. Show the axis, move it to where I wanted it and then carried on. Didn't experiment enough to see if you could force its location. Maybe try selecting a couple of edges then start the sketch see if that has any affect.

I did my method because of what you are saying, it just seemed to go wherever

Hmmm... I just figured out that the sketch axis is placed at the first coincident point (the one with the lowest number).

However, if you only have 1 coincident point, the system has no choice but to put the sketch axis there!

So if I start a sketch with 2 lines, and one coincident point, I know where the sketch axis is, and then I can continue building up the sketch! Whew! Ha!
