I have a model that consists of two thin plates, each with four bends unioned to a base plate. When I do any sort of transformation on this object the two bent plates move in an arbitrary way so that they loose their relationship to the base plate, though they keep they relationship to each other.

What can I do to avoid this happening?

This is in ViaCAD, on a G4 MAC running OS10.4.10

Try to select all the objects and Remove the links, this can be done through the Edit menu
