Message: Curves not Planer

Just trying to do the simple goblet tutorial and did something a little different I guess. I've had it work before but something in the way the goblet is constructed in 2D is wrong I guess.

-------------------------------------------

well the first problem was that I had not selected the whole 2D object. Why that (not planer) error message I don't know.

But now I am having trouble with hollowing the goblet out. Various problems:
Click first time with clicking on the tipped closed goblet nothing happens, well actually one of the 2D shapes gets highlighted or something.
Then I click again and it shows too many parts (more then 2 instead 4 or 5). Then when I click one of those it says "body has too many shells".

Where are the error messages and their likely fixes or reasons?

If you select your 2D curves and turn on their control points (CTRL D) - you may well see that one or more of these points are not in the same plane (lined up).

With a given curve selected, you can hover over it's points one by one.

... Top right of your screen you will see the live X,Y,Z read-out for the point you're on

This should give you a hint as to which point(s) is out of alignment

Hope that helps

I think that might of happened (either connection was unaligned or the end/beginning of the reconnect were in different planes when I tried to reconnect to a terminated interpolated spline shape.

Also in the video he must be double clicking without telling us on the interpolated spline at the end of the curve for the goblet to terminate it otherwise he would see an extended curve all the way until he clicks on the line tool again to finish off the 2D shape.

Little things are big things sometimes.
