I say it again : I hate having to go to menus & sub-menus to change text size, arrow size and many other settings. Thats every days pain, really. Any decent pallette planned for V6 ? JL

Agreed. I too rely on 2D drawings and having to fart around with these options every time I make a new drawing is a pain in the $@*%! Can this not be done as a template- like in Solidworks?

Guys A workaround is to create a new file with all your common styles ,draw all the types of dimensions you might use , lines with arrow styles and line types(with scales) and save as a symbol, . Then when you are detailing drag the symbol in to the side ungroup and then use the eyedropper tool to copy the exact style you need to text, dimensions, linestyles. The text options are all on the rt click menu but dimensions, arrows and linestyles esp their scale. I use a presetup symbol and the eyedropper tool and that makes it pretty easy. Regards Jason

Not ideal I agree but a clever way solution for the time being....
How does one save it as a symbol ? Can you elaborate on how this is done/where the files need to live and how the preview works on the symbol tab please ??
Thanks!

Hi, Paul Save any file as normal and copy into a folder in the symbols folder you can add any folder name you want inside the symbol folder folder located in C:\Program Files\Punch! Software\ViaCAD 3D V6\Symbols\Jason You have to restart the program to get any new items to show up in the concepts explorer window The preview is when you save the file so hide your tools and zoom up on object and save to try to max the preview pic. We've automated this process in Shark V6 through a batch import tool that includes an option to export as a symbol.

Are exported parts as symbols in native file format preserving their material and names?
http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?t=1836 What if there was an option to save the symbols or parts as just the parts actual name instead of the first 4 digits of the filename + the part name when doing the multifile export?
Thanks
Jason

can't we also have a simple "save as symbol" too ?

Hi Tim/Ryan, I have noticed that having saved a "symbol" in my own folder which consists of 2d geometry & 3d solids, when dragging into the viewport it doesnt recognise the solids as parametric anymore? Also, why does it place the symbol about the centre of its "bounding box" instead of where it was created in 3d space. Can be an option to retain current location ?
