>>Is there any insert face tutorial available. You can use the boolean tools to add/subtract surfaces to solids. Be sure to watch your surface normals as it adds/removes material relative to the surface normals. Is that what you mean?

Hi Tim, not exactly. It just putting a bolt in a hole. ( Fix something with a screw ) It is the insert face tool from the assembly toolset.

I was having trouble with this tool until yesterday. The tool is a two-step process--first you are aligning the axis 0f a bolt to the axis of a hole. However, ViaCAD uses the axial faces for alignment (a more general way than selecting a possibly non-existent axis). Then, you select the two faces that you want mated. What I did was to put a hole in a large 1/4 in. thick cylinder (eg a washer) and build a pseudo-bolt with the union of a cylinder and a 6-sided prism. Then, using the Insert Face tool, I selected the external surface of the bolt shank followed by the inside surface of the washer. The bolt did not change position. Then I selected the bottom surface of the bolt head followed by the top surface of the washer. Instantly I had my bolt in the washer. I hope this helps E
