I often need to construct a new spline based on the character of the old

Often - it's as simple as wanting a constant offset

What I'd like is an option to offset a spline WHILST respecting point placement

.. or if that's not easy to achieve

to offset all the points of a spline such that I can easily reconstruct a curve of similar character - AND editability
