I think you can see what I need from this tool Additionally though : - why can't I sweep the face edge instead of having to explode it off ? - why can't I have a continuity option ? - why can't I have an option to sweep perpendicular or sweep rigid ? Come on please .. let's have best of breed sweep tools - this rudimentary sweep doesn't cut it !

Hi jol, I cannot read the file, even in FX(demo). Any chance of some pics to show what you are attempting?, if you dont mind. - Steve

I'm interested to know what you make of that Steve !! Also - if you would .. create a 2 rail sweep again and delete it do that 3 times over now delete the 'control point curve' that you swept (not the guides) now undo .. tell me what you see

aha! Case in point! Tim, would it not be a good idea if this forum could also upload these files that Shark is capable of importing and exporting? Would be great for future switchers attempting to fault find?! ;)

That is a bad result. I cannot understand how it could produce that. Changing the "type" for the sweep rails gives yet another unexpected/unacceptable result. It makes me wonder if anyone at punch actually use this software when I see this type of output. - Steve

Yes, it's shit ! Did you do the other thing I asked ? ... create a 2 rail sweep again and delete it do that 3 times over now delete the 'control point curve' that you swept (not the guides) now undo .. tell me what you see

EDIT,
There where 4 surfaces when I made the undo, but even in some error with history I would of expected the same surface 4 times, but they where not.
The sweep appears to be getting forced to orientation to the start of the sweep rails.
There are workarounds, but the sweep should constrain by default.

what options do you expect/need from a 2 rail surface / solid sweep ? sweep perp/rigid begin continuous ability to sweep edges/faces (instead of exploded curves etc) these would go for the other sweep tools too any more ?

The sweeps are a bit of a joke anyway. Only being able to use one cross section is very limiting. Instead it is put forward the need to get the higher packages where they cover these basic functions with glossy names. - Steve

Sorry JD .. I didn't get what you did to have a successful 'sweep 2 guides' in this scenario Could you kindly explain I truly wish we could get the sweeps firing on all cylinders

Hi Jol
I deleted all curves/splines on end except for the 2 guides and exploded a new edge off the top edge and picked the first guide as the back rail farest away and it worked, but if I picked the rail closest as the first one it did not work.
When i tried to just sweep and use the edge that was there before deleting it created a surface way out in space do a zoom all and see if you see a surface way far out in space away from the rails
I though maybe you were talking about how the sweep ends but I see you were getting a sweep that was not starting at the exploded edge.

Tim .. any chance we can get you to look at some more options for sweep 2 rail surfaces and solids I am only getting the most rudimentary sweep from it Please see notes and file posted earlier in this thread

I would like to suggest this, too. I just realized after close inspection that one of my surface sweeps is not sweeping correctly along the upper edge/curve. The right, left, and bottom curves seem to have full contact with the surface being swept. I did use in Pro the tool to create a new surface between the incomplete surface and the curve above. Then i did successfully combine the two surfaces. But i am wondering why the initial surface didn't just sweep in full contact. Another idea i was wondering about (but may be addressed by better use of the tools is from my having to break lines between points so i could get better control of the sweeps) is: = can it be possible to "set up a sweep before committing the sweep" by -- specifying the desired curves boundaries -- specifying the curve being swept -- specifying the direction -- specifying the termination curve opposite of the starting curve I realize this all is being done automatically, but sometimes some surface sweeps take 40 seconds to process, and i am wondering if "what-ifs" could produce time estimates so we could just expedite a sweep by using a less than optimal sweep. This might not be desirable for those lathing or STLing precision parts, but for those of us using VC/Pro to draw ships or buildings, super-high precision my be something we can forgoe unless we get lucky and have a real-world, precision-demanding bid come through.
