Not unexpected, in fact I though it would of gone some time ago.
http://www.caligari.com/News/ne...etterFromTheFounder.html It is an application I have used (on and off) for many years from version 2, it got me away from 3d studio (the old DOS version I was using at the time).
Sad, but there we go.

Hi Jason,
MS wanted the technology behind TS for Virtual earth, and the owner wanted what MS offered;-

But it did not end as Roman first though (IMHO)

When Blender was discontinued by the company that'd bought it, enthusiastic users raised enough money by donation for the company to sell it back, and then it was made open source. I wonder if there's any similar affection and enthusiasm for trueSpace? I bought tS 6 through 7.5 before MS absorbed Caligari. There are some things it does that are unique and worth pushing for in mainstream applications. One of them has already shown up in the latest version of TurboCAD, which TC calls Quick Pull(!). Another is something tS called Soft Selection, and it's an idea that'd fit well with ACIS facial deformation with a bit of work. But because I' hadn't used tS until recent years, mostly I found it's UI hostile and bewildering compared to what I was used to. To be fair, I also find Blender hostile and bewildering, and I've been saying that about things since POVray....
