I need to draw a 177mm x 10mm rectangle divided into 270 divisions. This is to use as a scale to print out and fit to a handwheel on a machine tool. I could equally be using it as the base for engraving the graduations on this wheel. Eventually the scale will be modified to show every 5 and 10 divisions with varying line heights, and then numbers added. I am battling to find a way to do this. Can anyone help?

If the division is going to be divided over the 177mm and it will be 10mm high, then create a line over the 10 mm length. Make sure it is selected when doing the following:

1) Choose Modify->Advanced Transform->Path Duplicate
2) Set the quantity in the horizontal tool information bar to 271
3) Follow instructions in the tool info bar:
4) Select the translation path for objects (that's the 177mm side of the box)
5) Select copy origin = Click on start point (corner of box)
6) Select two points for axis alignment (first click is somewhere along the 177mm line, doesn't matter where, the second click is a bit further along the line)
7) Done! Delete the first and last line, so you'll end up with 269 lines in the box, ergo 270 divisions.

Hope this is clear. Is that what you were looking for?

You can replace the rectangle with lines of course.
