after the gripper is positioned by the user on a fairly large object, attempting to rotate the object 90 degree about the local X-axis kills Shark FX9 (v9.0.4 Build (1162). the object will rotate with the mouse; I just don't have the skills or patience to input 90.000 degrees via the mounse. anyone have any thoughts on preventing the failure or workarounds?? the object needs to be rotated for alignment with other native objects in global space............

Have you tried rotating it a small amount and then input your required figure in the angle box and hit enter?

rotating the object a small amount with the mouse first and then using the dialog box for a second rotation doesn't kill Shark, that's an improvement. still not arriving at 90.000 degrees, so there's still a problem. in the experiment I ran, the mouse rotation showing in the angle box was subtracted from 90.000 and then input into the dialog box. using that approach, the object rotation is being reported as 89.9 degrees between features on the object in the two orientations

downloaded 1184 and it works approximately one time in three; both rotation and translation.... the other approximately two times, attempting a rotation or translation kills the program with the same error message as previously posted

[email protected] Not sure if I understand you correctly but there is no need for subtracting when putting in the required figure.
It does not matter if your initial rotation is 5 or 20 degrees, you still punch in 90 (if that’s what you want), it is only one rotation even though you rotate it manually and then use the input function.

If you want to send this to my dropbox I'll take a look in the debugger. Tim
