does anyone have any thoughts on what the error message is attempting to communicate or how to "Blend" the top?? of more interest would be how to blend only the interior part of the top like done on the bottom ???

Hi Art

Usually a blend mitre error implies that the blending edge network is not tangent continuous and it does not know how to cap off the blend.

If it is not obvious where the error is, I will start splitting the solid into pieces to locate the offending error.

Also it looks like you have some high areas of curvature which can dictate how large of blend radius you can get.

thanks! some of the mystery is solved. I had tried a blending radius of 0.0625R and 0.050R prior to the initial post to NO avail. trying smaller (there's clearly nothing wrong with a curve that Shark's "Hatch" tool likes) I found that 0.044R is the largest that will blend; 0.045R will not.... hemispherical corners seems to out??

any ideas for a limited extent blend on the top or am I back to blending with the subtraction tool??

Hi Art,

when the smaller part was created separatly, then it is no problem.
I had cut out first the rounded notches (Subtract Solids - 3 cylinders) and than added it to the solid base. At last I blended first the foot and after this the top. The messure is Radial; 1 mm.

When I create fist the complete Part (base added to the small part) and when I added the 3 cylinders to cut out the notches in only one step, then I get the same problem as you have. The critical edge is bonded to the whole border around the surface of the small part.
